Who this is forDistrict Admin
District Administrator Guide
As a District Administrator, you configure eVAL for your whole district and oversee evaluation completion across it. Most of your configuration work is concentrated at the start of the year; the rest of the year is oversight.
:::tip New School Year? Setup has its own section: Start of Year Setup. Start with Planning & Key Settings for the settings to review and the order to work through them. :::
Your Responsibilities
| Area | What You Control |
|---|---|
| Start-of-year setup | Frameworks, modules and settings, notifications — see Start of Year Setup |
| Assignments | Assign evaluators and plan types district-wide, or delegate to schools |
| Prompt Bank | Maintain district-wide prompts throughout the year |
| Oversight | Monitor progress on the Dashboard, generate reports, intervene when needed |
| Mid-year changes | Plan type changes, unlock requests, reassignments |
What Only You Can Do
A few things are district-level and can't be delegated:
- Selecting evaluation frameworks — nothing else in eVAL can begin until this is done
- Deciding whether schools can override settings at all
- Configuring DTE/DPE assignments — district evaluators who work across schools
- Setting required notifications for the district
Key Concepts
Three things are worth understanding well, because they explain most "why can't they do X?" questions:
- Modules and Settings — which features are available and how they behave.
- Settings Inheritance — your settings are the baseline; schools can override some if you allow it, but the evaluator's position determines what applies. This is why DTE/DPE evaluations bypass school settings.
- Completion Modes — Simple lets the evaluator finalize directly; Formal requires the evaluatee to review and acknowledge online first. Which to use is a district policy question: whether you want the evaluatee's sign-off recorded in eVAL for that evidence collection.
