How to Complete a Self-Assessment

This guide walks an evaluatee through creating and sharing a self-assessment. For the concepts behind it, see Self-Assessment.

1. Create the Self-Assessment — Setup tab

  1. Go to Self-Assessment and create a new one.
  2. On the Setup tab, give it a title.
  3. It opens in Draft — private to you until you share it.

2. Reflect and Align Evidence — Evidence View tab

  1. Open the Evidence View to work against the rubric.
  2. Add evidence and align it to the rubric components that reflect your practice.
  3. If your district allows self-assessment scoring, record your self-scores. These are for your own reflection — they don't contribute to your summative score.

3. Add Artifacts — Artifacts tab (optional)

Attach supporting documents as embedded artifacts. Share them before you share the self-assessment, or they won't be included.

4. Share With Your Evaluator — Report tab

  1. Review your self-assessment on the Report tab.
  2. When you're ready, share it from the Report tab. It becomes read-only and visible to your evaluator.

Making Changes After Sharing

A shared self-assessment is read-only, but you can Unlock it yourself to make changes — no evaluator approval needed — then share it again.
